This successful restoration project brought back to life a beautiful community landmark and in the process, garnered more than 18 national, regional and local awards including the Honor Award of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2010, the Honor Award of the US Institute of Theatre Technology, the Honor Award of the American Institute of Architects/Northwest & Pacific Region, the Washington State Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation prestigious Valerie Sivinski Award for Historic Rehabilitation, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Spokane Project of the Year award.
The Spokane Symphony, now performing the majority of its season in the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, continues to amaze with one quality concert after another. In Feb of 2009 the orchestra premiered a work by Michael Daugherty, Letters from Lincoln, commissioned by the Spokane Symphony in honor of the Lincoln bicentennial with guest artist Thomas Hampson. A CD of this work was released nationally – the Symphony’s first major national recording made possible because of the quality acoustics at the Fox.
The Theater is developing a strong national reputation as an excellent facility with exceptional acoustics and a quality technical staff. It is regularly proclaimed “one of the best theaters in the West” by guest artists and visiting performers.
